In 2000, Karen had the rare opportunity, thanks to Standard Life and Robert Swan, to live on a Russian Base on King George Island in the Antarctic.
 
It had a profound effect on her life resulting in her giving up a safe and well-paid job in the corporate world and starting out on a quest to find a life that worked for her whilst trying to break free from the shackles of her upbringing.

It is a humourous, yet poignant look at life and is for anyone who is looking to be inspired by a 'normal' woman who has had some extraordinary adventures.
